Sod Poodles Sting Muskies, 5-3
|
Jonas Jackman was a major factor in the 5-3 Ames win over Madison. The Sod Poodles left fielder was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Holden Paniagua went 6.1 innings for Ames to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 6. His record improves to 1-1. Yency Ávila earned the save for Ames, his 5th.
Vincent Lumpkins, who is tied for 3rd in the MID in home runs with 10, took Madison hurler J.B. Waits deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run home run put the Sod Poodles on top, 4-1. In all, Lumpkins had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Jackman. "Those qualities define our team."
Ames currently is in 6th place in the Midwest League Western Division at 15-24.
