Captains Shimmy Past TinCaps, 5-4
|
The Lake County Captains bested the Fort Wayne TinCaps by a score of 5-4, with designated hitter Carson Krueger getting the main credit. On the day, Krueger went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Captains. James Guarino, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The win makes Lake County 15-33, nothing to write home about.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Alexis Comeau came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fort Wayne pitcher Grady Dorsett, he hit a 0-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lake County on top, 5-4.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Nathan Halker.
