Haymakers Sting Chiefs, 7-0
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Cedar Rapids Haymakers and Peoria Chiefs.
Peoria had no answer for 21-year old left-handed pitcher Stanley Kaminer. The Cedar Rapids Haymakers starter stymied Chiefs hitters, helping the Haymakers cruise to victory, 7-0. With the victory, the Haymakers upped their record to 29-23.
Luciano Silveira had a big bases-clearing double for the Haymakers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cedar Rapids leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Willis Flores and swatted a double to right. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Haymakers ahead, 5-0.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Silveira. "More importantly, I had a good game."
