The Ames Sod Poodles did just enough to sneak past the Flint Wolverines, 4-3, at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Ames pitcher Mason White, in particular, had a standout performance. M.J. Prosperi sewed up the save, his 12th. Ames's winning streak has reached 4 games.
Ames used the clutch hitting of Duke Robertson to capture the win. The catcher drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Sod Poodles the lead, 3-2. For the game, Robertson had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Flint manager John Vega.
