Sod Poodles Land Close Win
|
Flint pitcher Calisto Montez gave the Sod Poodles all they could handle, but in the end, Ames left Fifth Third Bank Ballpark with a win, 2-1. Montez allowed no runs on 2 hits over 5.1 innings. Joe Guerra got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Earning his 1st save of the year was Zach Graham.
Robert Riske delivered a big hit for Ames. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sod Poodles ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"We needed two runs to win," said Sod Poodles manager Jake DiVita, "and that's what we got."
The Sod Poodles now have a mark of 21-30.
