Dragons Down Loons, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Dayton Dragons and the Great Lakes Loons, pitcher Malcolm Beverly was the difference between victory and defeat. The Dayton right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Dragons win. Beverly got the win, improving to 4-3. He gave up 8 hits and walked 0 over 5 innings. He allowed 1 run. Sloan Branham got the save, the 9th for him this season.
Gregg Lentz, who is tied for 2nd in the MID in triples with 3, chipped in a solo home run for Dayton in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Malcolm went out and did what we needed," said Dayton manager Jason Quinlan.
The Dragons, at 30-19, sit in 4th place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
