River Bandits Mow Down Timber Rattlers, 9-2
|
At Modern Woodmen Park, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Quad Cities River Bandits were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 22-year old right fielder José Velez, the Quad Cities River Bandits stopped the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 9-2. Mike Dingman, the winner, is now 3-5. He struck out 8 and walked 1 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.
Jason Boen had a big 2-run double for the River Bandits in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Quad Cities leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Todd Johnson, who is tied for 6th in the MID in strikeouts with 54, and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Bandits ahead, 5-2.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Velez told the Quad Cities Chronicle.
The River Bandits now have a mark of 22-27.
