River Bandits Trump Loons, 5-1
|
The Great Lakes Loons got a superb performance from pitcher Brandon Adams. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Quad Cities. The River Bandits won the game, 5-1. Adams threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Nel Burgo, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Talon Maniatis sewed up the save, his 4th.
Quad Cities took a 1-0 lead on Preston Yajnavalkya's 13th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Yajnavalkya hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Great Lakes pitcher Ryuji Kumagai visibly frustrated.
"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Yajnavalkya.
With the victory, the River Bandits record now stands at 28-22.
