Ames starter Mason White put a stranglehold on the Westside offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Sod Poodles to a 5-0 win. Ames, now 31-24, holds down third place in the Midwest League Western Division.

In the bottom of the third, Ames catcher Duke Robertson had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Robertson stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 2-0, Ames. For the game, he was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"Mason -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Sod Poodles manager Wil Coffey. "He was the key to us winning."
