Schmidt Excels in 7-5 Ames Win
Ames and Fort Wayne duked it out and the Sod Poodles came out victorious.

The Ames Sod Poodles bested the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 7-5, at Parkview Field. Brander Schmidt was one of the standouts. He was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. M.J. Prosperi was credited with the save for Ames, his 17th of the season.

Schmidt had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Giovanni Fountain, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Sod Poodles a 7-5 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Schmidt.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Schmidt told the Ames Herald. "Whatever it takes."

The 4th-place Sod Poodles have a record of 33-27.
