Madison Beats Quad Cities in Extra Innings
|
The Madison Muskies cut down the Quad Cities River Bandits by the score of 8-5, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Micah Gatchel. Gatchel was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Muskies. The Muskies are now 26-31, while the River Bandits fall to 26-31.
Gatchel contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Madison in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Gatchel took a screwball from Dan Harper and stroked the home run to right. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Muskies to leap in front, 3-2.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Gatchel. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
