River Bandits Go Down to Defeat, 6-2
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits and Dayton Dragons were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Dayton Dragons starter John F. Welby hurled his team past the Quad Cities River Bandits, 6-2. Welby, now 5-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Stephen LaPrade got credit for the save for Dayton. It was his 15th of the year.
Ronald Garrudo dealt the River Bandits a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Dayton leading 1-0, Garrudo hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"John F. -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Dragons manager Jason Quinlan. "He was the key to us winning."
The first-place Dragons are now 41-17, the River Bandits 30-28.
