Haymakers Score Late, Top TinCaps, 4-3
|
Despite a great performance by Fort Wayne third baseman Keon Jol, the Cedar Rapids Haymakers defeated the TinCaps by the score of 4-3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Jol was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Cedar Rapids reliever Luis Machado, now 1-2. The loser was Elliot Jackson. The save went to Nate Parkin, number 8 for him.
Santiago Rangel helped out the Cedar Rapids cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Fort Wayne manager Nathan Halker said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Yes, it was a win for Cedar Rapids; but their 20-40 mark is nothing to crow about.
