LumberKings Fell Sod Poodles, 1-0
|
The Clinton LumberKings eked out a 1-0 win versus the Ames Sod Poodles at Community Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Duardo Vega. He was terrific. Vega went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 10. His record improves to 7-2. The win gives Clinton a season record of 36-28.
Clinton relied on the hitting of Linden Sapp to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the LumberKings on top, 1-0. For the game, Sapp had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"That's baseball," said Ames manager Wil Coffey. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
