Woolly Mammoths Drop LumberKings, 8-6, with Late Score
|
The timely hitting of Trent Foley helped the Westside Woolly Mammoths down the Clinton LumberKings, 8-6. Foley went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Woolly Mammoths. Westside reliever Bobby Maldonado picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Ken Gachupin was saddled with the loss. Westside, now 31-33, holds down 6th place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Gordon Elam was at the plate when Westside scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Woolly Mammoths to go in front, 8-6.
"Good team win," Elam said. "I love it when a plan comes together."
