The Flint Wolverines had to overcome a good performance from South Bend pitcher Yhan Montejano to claim a 3-2 win at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. Montejano went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The winner in relief was Rick Aloe. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. With the win, the Wolverines sit at 37-26.
Julian Ham came through with a big-time hit for Flint. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"The other side played a good game," said South Bend manager Mickey Smith. "You tip your cap to them."
