Watson goes 4-for-5 as Cubs Squeeze Past Cedar Rapids
|
Behind the hitting of Landon Watson, the South Bend Cubs clipped the Cedar Rapids Haymakers, 5-4. Watson went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times for the Cubs. Blake Smith was called on to finish, recording his 13th save. The Cubs now have a mark of 29-38.
Jake Walker, who is tied for 8th in the MID in triples with 3, helped out the South Bend cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman went 3-5 with 3 singles.
Watson said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
