Sod Poodles Handle Great Lakes, Snag 3-2 Win
|
The Great Lakes Loons got a sterling performance from pitcher Ryan Richard, but the Ames Sod Poodles still prevailed, 3-2. Richard threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. Migel Sanz, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Getting the save was Romildo Alejo, his 3rd.
Ames used a well-timed hit by Anthony Howard to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sod Poodles ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Ames manager Johnny Majorca praised his team's "no BS approach."
Ames is now 22-43.
