River Bandits Defeat TinCaps, 5-1
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-1, at Parkview Field. Dan Montero starred for Quad Cities. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Quad Cities reliever Wallace Cuellar snagged the win, upping his record to 1-4. Vicente Benjumea shouldered the loss. P.J. Brown closed the game out for Quad Cities, earning his 11th save.
Quad Cities used a well-timed hit by Aiden Leto to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the River Bandits ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Montero called the win "an overall solid one."
The 7th-place River Bandits go to 32-40.
