Tuck Stars for Snappers in 7-0 Win

The Beloit Snappers beat the Ames Sod Poodles, 7-0, at Harry C. Pohlman Field. Beloit shortstop Cassius Tuck had an outstanding performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Ron Cookson picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-0. He struck out 3 in 6 innings. Don Quixote Castellanos was credited with the save for Beloit, his 1st of the season.
Beloit grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Tuck hit a grand slam home run off Vicente Nicasto. His 11th home run of the season put the Snappers out in front, 4-0.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Ames skipper Johnny Majorca.
The third-place Snappers improved to 38-31.
