Sod Poodles Need Extra Frames to Get Past Chiefs
The Peoria Chiefs got a sterling performance from pitcher Chase Haskin, but the Ames Sod Poodles still prevailed, 5-4. Haskin threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Ames reliever M.J. Prosperi picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. E.J. Cookson shouldered the loss. The 6th-place Sod Poodles improved to 36-36.

Ames used the clutch hitting of Renato Romero to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to give the Sod Poodles the lead, 5-4. For the game, Romero had 1 single and 1 double in 3 at-bats.
