Loons Win, 7-2, Versus Sod Poodles
|
The 7-2 Great Lakes win over Ames was due in large part to Ray Russell. The Loons left fielder went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Runhao Ji picked up the save for Great Lakes, his 15th of the year. Great Lakes now sits at 41-32, while Ames falls to 36-37.
Jonah Escudero, the 23-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Escudero contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Great Lakes up, 4-2.
"We had a nice day," said Great Lakes skipper Barry Tripp.
