The Ames Sod Poodles got a magnificent performance from pitcher Flip Gaddis, who stifled the Great Lakes offense en route to a 1-0 Sod Poodles win at Community Field. Ames is now 39-37, Great Lakes 41-35.

The Sod Poodles procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Justin Rome. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"It's great when the crowd is energized," Rome said.
