Captains Down Woolly Mammoths, 4-1
|
The Lake County Captains got a stellar performance from pitcher Sparky Stapleton, who handcuffed the Westside offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Classic Park. Stapleton got the win, improving to 8-1. He allowed 7 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Stapleton allowed 1 run. Chase Savage earned the save, his 15th, for the Captains.
Lake County left fielder Kevin Wisniewski contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a sinker into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 41st hit of the season and put the Captains ahead, 3-1.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Stapleton.
