River Bandits Score Late to Upend Chiefs, 8-5
|
Peoria got a terrific game from shortstop Bengie Baltier. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Quad Cities, 8-5. Baltier was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Gareth Kishikawa, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Leonard Denison sewed up the save, his 15th.
Ian Boudreau was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk for Quad Cities. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Kevin Sarkisian. It was his 17th walk of the season.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Boudreau told reporters after the game.
Their 41-44 record puts the River Bandits 7th in the Midwest League Western Division.
