Vital Powers Timber Rattlers to 7-5 Win
|
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beat the Peoria Chiefs, 7-5, at Dozer Park. The win was due in part to right fielder Bryan Vital, who was 2-3 with a triple and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The winner in relief was Tyler Tanner. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. Frank Szalai was credited with the save for Wisconsin, his 5th of the season.
With Wisconsin leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Vital hit a slider from Raymond May for a 2-run triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Timber Rattlers ahead, 4-0.
"We played hard and won," said Vital. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Wisconsin, at 45-47, holds down 7th place in the Midwest League Western Division.
