Vince Christian was in top form in a tight contest between Clinton and Fond du Lac. The LumberKings left-hander helped his team beat the Dock Spiders, 1-0. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jason McCafferty in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Jesús Córdova took the loss. Geraldo Vazquez recorded the save, his 25th.

Had Dock Curtis not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Curtis hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the LumberKings.

"Vince was able to execute his pitches," said Clinton manager Fernando Vasquez. "Simple as that."

The first-place LumberKings, at 63-33, lead the Midwest League Western Division by 8½ games.
