Haymakers Thrill Fans with 5-3 Win
With second baseman Eric Mayerle leading the charge, the Cedar Rapids Haymakers defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-3, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Mayerle was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Cedar Rapids pitcher Ty Arthur earned the win, hiking his record to 1-4. George Peña suffered the loss. With the victory, the Haymakers record stands at 47-46.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Mayerle hit a slider from George Peña for a 2-run home run. The Haymakers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

Mayerle said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
