Dragons Come Back Late to Top Lugnuts, 6-3
|
The Dayton Dragons defeated the Lansing Lugnuts, 6-3, in Midwest League action at Cooley Law School Stadium. Dayton pitcher Tim Woodard had a standout performance. In 7 innings, Woodard surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Sloan Branham saved it for Dayton.
It could have been a different outcome for Dayton, had it not been for De'Andre Dorr, the 23-year old first baseman . Dorr contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Dayton up, 3-1.
"Winning is contagious," said Woodard. "We're looking forward to the next game."
The Dragons go to 53-44, putting them 5th in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
