Lansing Dismisses Cedar Rapids, 8-5
|
The Lansing Lugnuts had to overcome a big game from Cedar Rapids designated hitter Alexander Motta to leave Veterans Memorial Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 8-5. Motta was 4-5 with 4 singles. Remington Sokol sewed up the save, his 7th. Lansing currently is in 4th place in the Midwest League Eastern Division at 52-57.
Lansing used the timely hitting of Tomas Karagyan to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Karagyan.
