The Dragons faced a stiff challenge from South Bend pitcher Zach Strott, but persevered to claim a win at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The final score was 1-0. Strott went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Franklin Lattimer was credited with the save for Dayton, his 20th of the season. The Dragons raised their record to 56-56.

Gerald Dukes came through with a big-time hit for Dayton. The shortstop smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 1-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Dukes. "Just do my job."
