The Great Lakes Loons weathered a fine game by South Bend catcher Jackie Nguyen to upend the Cubs, 8-6, at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. Nguyen was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Kelsey Vong earned the save, his 5th. With the win, Great Lakes goes to 66-44, while the Cubs fall to 42-68.

Great Lakes used a well-timed hit by P.J. Hart to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Loons ahead, 7-6. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Great Lakes manager Barry Tripp.
