River Bandits Solve Chiefs, 6-5
|
Modern Woodmen Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Quad Cities River Bandits and Peoria Chiefs.
The Quad Cities River Bandits withstood an impressive performance by Peoria catcher Will Van Arsdall to defeat the Chiefs, 6-5, at Modern Woodmen Park. Van Arsdall was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Kenny Platts. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings.
In the bottom of the sixth, Charles Burrelli delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Quad Cities second baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the River Bandits in front, 6-5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Quad Cities manager John Buff.
