Joe Ashton had a strong outing for the Great Lakes Loons against the Ames Sod Poodles at Dow Diamond. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-3 win. Sam Grace got the save, his 7th in 8 chances. The Loons now have a record of 74-47 with the win over Ames.

Romeo Veverka was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks for Great Lakes. The 22-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Aidan LaMontagne. It was his 101st hit of the season.
