The Lansing Lugnuts and Flint Wolverines played an exciting game.
The Lansing Lugnuts eked out a 3-2 win versus the Flint Wolverines at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Oliver Matos. He was terrific. Matos went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. Remington Sokol earned the save, his 8th, for the Lugnuts.
Lansing needed the clutch hitting of Hernando Brea to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 3-2. For the game, Brea had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Flint manager John Vega. "But we decided not to take it."
With the victory, the Lugnuts record now stands at 61-68.
