5-Hit Game for Borchers
After a 5-hit effort to lead Beloit's 13-3 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits, first baseman Walter Borchers told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Single A-level is really something special."

The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Modern Woodmen Park with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the River Bandits.

"His swing is getting there," said Snappers skipper Lawrence Crocker, who spoke glowingly of Borchers after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Walter did that to perfection."

Walter Borchers singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.

This year, Borchers has hit at a .342 clip with 49 RBIs, 10 home runs and 41 runs scored.
