Giants Walk It Off for 3rd Win of Season
|
The San Jose Giants topped the San Bernardino Stampede by a score of 5-4 in 13 innings. Leading the way was catcher Gordon Billard. Billard went 4 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Giants. The win went to Lyle Morris in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Isaiah Kurkchian took the loss. The win lifts San Jose to a record of 3-6.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 13th. With two out, Billard hit a fastball from Isaiah Kurkchian for a run-scoring double. The Giants, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Billard told a San Jose Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
