Fireflies Spill Legends, 5-0
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Columbia Fireflies topped the Lexington Legends, 5-0, with right fielder Franklin Taylor playing a big role. Taylor went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Fireflies in the win. Columbia is now 2-1.
One pivotal at-bat came with two out in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded and Lexington trailing 2-0, Willard Wernick needed to bear down against Zogo Reyna. Wernick won the battle, as Reyna struck out and the Fireflies went on to win.
