Nuts Top Riverside, 9-8
|
The Modesto Nuts bested the Riverside Red Wave by a score of 9-8, with first baseman Edward Webber getting the main credit. On the day, Webber went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Nuts. Modesto pitcher Jasper Gilbey got the win. He's now 1-0. Matt Anderson was tagged with the loss. Modesto goes to 6-4.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Webber hit a fastball from Elijah Sanchez for a run-scoring single. The Nuts, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Webber told the Modesto Gazette.
