The Bowling Green Hot Rods and Savannah Bananas played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Ethan Damron never let the Bananas get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Hot Rods to a win, 3-1. Damron, now 3-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
The Hot Rods got a big at-bat from shortstop Axel Christensen. For the game, Christensen went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Bowling Green a 2-1 lead.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Damron.
The Bananas, now 5-11, continue their inauspicious start.
