Charleston turned a good effort from starter Cal Barton into a win over the Columbus Catfish at Progressive Field. The final score was 4-1. Barton got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Barton allowed 1 run. Gregory Drake closed the game out for Charleston, earning his 3rd save.
The RiverDogs got a big at-bat from left fielder Enzo Aponte. For the game, Aponte was 1-5 with a home run. In the top of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Charleston a 1-0 lead.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Columbus manager Francisco Avalos.
Charleston, now 10-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
