The Columbia Fireflies got a good effort from starter Ralph Blankinship in defeating the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Spirit Communications Park. The final score was 5-2. The win puts Columbia at 11-8.

The Fireflies got a big at-bat from right fielder Liam Brydson. For the game, Brydson was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Columbia a 4-2 lead.

"I like winning," Brydson told the Columbia Citizen. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
