Columbia Absorbs 6-2 Loss to Rome
|
The Rome Braves topped the Columbia Fireflies, 6-2, at State Mutual Stadium. Rome third baseman Chan Alomar was a spark plug for the offense. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win gives Rome a record of 12-9.
Kai Baggett, who is tied for 8th in the SAL in bases on balls with 11, took Columbia hurler Marco Concepcion deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Braves on top, 2-0. In all, Baggett had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I put some good swings on the ball," said Alomar.
