Close Win Moves Drive to 9-18
|
Greenville Drive starter Sam Readman pitched his team past the Asheville Tourists, 3-2. Greenville reliever Rick Nitti picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Walt Cribbs shouldered the loss. Charles Smith earned the save, his 5th.
One significant plate appearance for Greenville came with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Drive left fielder Dane Tattershall hit a run-scoring single, which helped his team go on to win.
"Every loss stings," said Asheville manager Orlando Lopez. "This one is no exception."
Greenville is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 9th win in 27 games.
