The West Virginia Power topped the Columbus Catfish, 5-1, with youngster Nicolas González playing a key role. González went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Power in the win. Earning his 1st save of the year was Edgar Bess. West Virginia, at 15-17, occupies 5th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.

González had a timely hit for West Virginia in the top of the seventh. With Columbus trailing 1-0, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season, making it 3-1, West Virginia.

"It was our day today," González told the West Virginia Herald. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
