Bananas, Tomich Pin Bad Loss on GreenJackets
The exploits of right fielder Rich Tomich, who is tied for 8th in the SAL in RBI with 21, helped the Savannah Bananas defeat the Augusta GreenJackets, 10-1. Tomich hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Michael Embry picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Mauricio Vega was tagged with the loss. The win puts Savannah at 20-13 this season.

Tomich had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the first when the 24-year old right fielder hit a 2-run home run. The home run gave Savannah the lead, 2-0. It was his 10th home run of the season.

Augusta manager Hector Garduno called the blowout loss "a real dud."
