The Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Savannah Bananas, 6-4. Doing his part was third baseman Van Mejia, who went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Alex Sims earned the win for Augusta. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Daniel Byrd nailed down his 6th save.

Augusta used a timely hit from Nevada Nuñez to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the GreenJackets ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mejia said.

At 17-18, the GreenJackets find themselves in 5th place in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division.
