Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Hickory Crawdads got the win.

The Crawdads grabbed a win, 4-2, at Fluor Field at the West End, overcoming a fine effort from Greenville pitcher D.J. Evangelista. Evangelista went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Hickory reliever Martin Borrego picked up the win, while Christopher Kegler took the loss for Greenville.

Hickory used the hitting of Jason Howitt to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Crawdads on top, 3-2. For the game, Howitt had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Said losing manager E.J. Boggan: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."

Hickory now sits at 24-11, while Greenville falls to 14-21.
