In a tight game between the Greenville Drive and the Savannah Bananas, nobody was more important for the winners than Rich Tomich. Tomich was masterful in the 2-1 win. The winner was Greg Lorenz in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Sam Readman took the loss. Herman Mills was credited with the save for Savannah, his 10th of the season.

Maximiliano Maldonado aided the Savannah cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Tomich.

Today's win puts Savannah at 22-15, while Greenville falls to 13-24.
