Timpson, Grasshoppers Too Much for GreenJackets
|
The Greensboro Grasshoppers trumped the Augusta GreenJackets, 5-1, at First Energy Park. Greensboro right fielder Clancy Timpson was terrific. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Eden Rice, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-2. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 0. The second-place Grasshoppers raised their record to 23-14.
Timpson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Greensboro in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Timpson took a fastball from Dan Lorenson and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Grasshoppers to leap in front, 3-1.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Timpson.
