Tourists Shut Out Braves, 1-0
|
The Asheville Tourists managed to get by the Rome Braves, 1-0, at McCormick Field. Asheville pitcher Tabito Tabuchi set himself apart with his performance. Tabuchi, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Ross Allen sewed up the save, his 9th.
The Tourists got a big at-bat from catcher Esequiel Larios. For the game, Larios went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Asheville a 1-0 lead.
Larios was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Asheville Gazette, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
With the win over Rome, the Tourists improved to 19-21.
